As we celebrate this 239th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence from England, we should all take a moment to reflect on what it means to be an American. In this age of political polarization, we sometimes lose sight of the fact that, as Americans our commonalities are far more numerous than our differences. We are bonded by a common love of liberty and freedom. We enjoy the privilege of living in country that rewards hard work and allows every individual to succeed to his or her own personal and full potential.
Nancy and I will spend the weekend with friends and family, enjoying picnics and fireworks, and we know most of you will be doing the same. Certainly, enjoy yourself and take time to relax and have fun. But also, take a moment to remember and reflect upon the men and women who have given so much and sacrificed so much to allow us to live in this great country, this land of unprecedented opportunity.
When you come back to work on Monday, do a self-evaluation. Ask yourself if you’re doing all you can to create the most fulfilling life you can. Ask yourself if you can do more with the rest of this year. Then do it! Make the most of the precious opportunity America affords. We want you to know that we appreciate each and every one of you for being a part of our lives, both professionally and personally.
Have a safe and happy Independence Day celebration.
Nancy and Jay Abramovitz
